Israel Welcomes 230 New Immigrants from France Amid Growing Summer Aliyah Operation

Last night, 230 new immigrants from France arrived in Israel on four flights organized by the Ministry of Aliyah and Integration as part of the Summer 2026 Aliyah Operation. This brings the total number of French immigrants arriving since the operation began to approximately 800, reflecting a strengthening trend of immigration from France. The new arrivals were greeted by Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich, Aliyah and Integration Minister Ofir Sofer, and dozens of members of the Bnei Akiva youth movement.

The Summer 2026 Aliyah Operation aims to bring thousands of new immigrants from various countries to Israel during the summer months, many of whom are families with children preparing to integrate before the new school year. According to the Ministry of Aliyah and Integration, since October 7, over 67,100 new immigrants from around the world have arrived in Israel, with France remaining a key source country.

Data shows a significant increase in immigration from France since October 7: 1,097 immigrants arrived in 2023, doubling to 2,234 in 2024, and rising further to 3,357 in 2025, a growth of more than 200% over two years. The upward trend continues in 2026, with about 800 French immigrants arriving so far compared to approximately 690 during the same period last year. In total, more than 6,500 immigrants from France have arrived since October 7.

Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich welcomed the new immigrants warmly, stating, "The people of Israel are returning to their land and fulfilling the vision of the end of days with a strong economy and a thriving state. My ministry provides all necessary support to ensure a full absorption package and a smooth landing for the immigrants." Aliyah and Integration Minister Ofir Sofer added, "I congratulate our brothers and sisters from French Jewry who continue to make aliyah. Their desire to be part of the Zionist story, combined with the initiatives and infrastructure we have built, encourages more immigrants to choose Israel as their home. They strengthen our economy, healthcare, academia, and security forces. I call on Israeli citizens to welcome them warmly and help them integrate successfully into the community."
