MK Limor Son Har-Melech Holds Grandson's Circumcision at Memorial for Late Husband in Samaria
At the Malakhi HaShalom junction in Samaria, a brit milah (circumcision) ceremony was held on Tuesday for the grandson of Knesset member Limor Son Har-Melech. The event took place at the memorial site dedicated to her late husband, Shuli Har-Melech, who was killed in a shooting attack at that location in 2003. A special wooden deck was constructed at the site the day before the ceremony. The baby, son of Sarah Son, was named after his late grandfather.
The attack occurred approximately 23 years ago, when Shuli Har-Melech was murdered and Limor, who was pregnant at the time, was seriously injured. In an interview with Channel 14, MK Son Har-Melech reflected on the moment, recalling the path she took to the ceremony and the danger they faced then. She also shared that three hours after the attack, she gave birth prematurely to her daughter Sarah via emergency cesarean section.
MK Son Har-Melech connected the family event to her legislative work in the Knesset, particularly regarding the death penalty law for terrorists. She quoted Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir's remarks in Knesset committees, suggesting that if terrorists knew that from the wounded car would come a leader pushing for the death penalty law, they might reconsider their actions. She noted the transformation of the area, now inhabited by Jewish shepherds where foxes once roamed.
Concluding her remarks, MK Son Har-Melech expressed gratitude for being able to return to the site of her injury to celebrate a joyous family occasion. She described the moment as indescribable, linking the brit milah blood covenant with the land of Israel. The ceremony ended with the family expressing thanks for the "salvation and redemption" they felt at the location.
