Israeli Guard Yarden Garzon Signs with Spanish Team Zaragoza After WNBA Draft

Israeli basketball player Yarden Garzon has officially signed with Zaragoza in Spain after going undrafted in the 2026 WNBA draft. The 22-year-old guard, standing 1.91 meters tall, spent the last four years playing college basketball in the United States before moving to Europe to continue her professional career.

Garzon, originally from Ra'anana, began her basketball journey with Maccabi Ra'anana's youth and senior teams. After three years playing in Israel, including time with Maccabi Ramat Gan, she joined Indiana Bloomington University in 2022. In her first season there, she helped the team secure first place in the BIG10 league for the first time in 40 years. She later transferred to the University of Maryland, where she averaged 12.5 points, 4 rebounds, and 3 assists per game.

Although she was not selected in the 2026 WNBA draft, Garzon signed a rookie contract with the Phoenix Mercury. However, in May, the Mercury released her, leading her to pursue opportunities in the Spanish league. In 2022, she represented Israel in the Under-20 European Championship Division B, leading the team to promotion to Division A. She averaged 20 points, 7.2 rebounds, and 3.8 assists per game, finishing as the tournament's top player in efficiency rating.

Garzon's move to Zaragoza marks the start of her professional career in Europe, aiming to build on her collegiate and international successes.
