Miriam Stern, Sister of Prominent Arieli Rabbis, Passes Away at 62 in Bnei Brak
Miriam Stern, a respected and righteous woman from Bnei Brak, passed away at the age of 62. Born during the Sukkot festival in 1964, she was the daughter of Rabbi Chaim Yaakov Arieli, author of the renowned "Be'er Yaakov," and granddaughter of Rabbi Yitzchak Arieli, author of "Einayim LaMishpat." Raised in a deeply religious and scholarly family, she was connected to leading Torah figures across the Lithuanian and Brisk communities. On her mother's side, she was the niece of Rabbi Moshe Sternbuch, a leading halachic authority, as well as Rabbi Eliyahu Sternbuch and Rabbi Chanoch Arentroy, prominent rabbis in Antwerp and London respectively. Her aunt was married to Rabbi Meshulam David Soloveitchik, head of the Brisk yeshiva.
Throughout her life, Miriam stood by her husband, Rabbi David Asher Cohen Stern, with whom she established a distinguished home of Torah and piety on Rambam Street in Bnei Brak. Known for her numerous acts of kindness and warm demeanor, she was highly regarded in the community. Her brothers are notable Torah scholars: Rabbi Asher Arieli, who delivers the largest daily shiur worldwide at the Mir Yeshiva and heads the Beit Shalom yeshiva; Rabbi Shmuel Arieli, head of the New Chevron Yeshiva; and Rabbi Shlomo Arieli, a Torah lecturer at the Tzhebin Yeshiva and editor of Rabbi Akiva Eiger's novellae.
Her passing deeply saddened her family and many acquaintances. Due to her death, Rabbi Asher Arieli's daily shiur at the Mir Yeshiva was not held. The funeral took place on Monday at 1:00 PM, departing from her home at 4 Rambam Street in Bnei Brak to the Ponovezh cemetery, where she was laid to rest. May her soul be bound in the bond of life.
