Drama in Israeli basketball. The court today (Thursday) accepted Hapoel Tel Aviv’s appeal and ruled a technical loss against Hapoel Jerusalem, which put Dimitris Itoudis’ team up 2-0 in the semifinal series, a series it can finish tonight if it wins.
Shortly afterward, Hapoel Tel Aviv issued its response, saying: “Hapoel Tel Aviv welcomes the Supreme Court’s decision, which accepted the club’s appeal and ruled a technical loss against Hapoel Jerusalem.”
It added: “In our view, this is the necessary decision, consistent with the facts, the regulations, and the principles of sportsmanship. The Supreme Court’s decision reflects the obligation to respect the decisions of authorized bodies and the rules of the game.”
