Criminal Dispute Sparks Grenade Attack in Luxury North Tel Aviv Complex
A grenade attack shocked residents of a luxury residential complex in north Tel Aviv late Friday night, causing significant damage to the building's lobby. The complex houses mostly businesspeople, including a well-known singer who lives nearby but not in the targeted building. The attack has raised fears among residents about becoming victims of ongoing criminal conflicts.
According to residents, the violence stems from a dispute between Tel Aviv crime organizations over approximately 100 million shekels owed by businesspeople linked to different factions. Some criminals have recently moved into the upscale towers, while others come to settle scores, using grenade attacks and assassination attempts that endanger uninvolved business owners.
Police from the Yarkon district responded to the scene, collecting evidence, but the masked assailant who threw the grenade remains at large. Authorities are investigating the incident and its possible connection to another grenade attack on a home in south Tel Aviv two nights earlier. No suspects have been arrested in either case. Residents emphasize that no criminals live in the building, underscoring their concern about the spillover of gang violence into peaceful neighborhoods.
