California Men Arrested After Selfie Evidence Foils $100,000 Business Burglary

Two men from Hayward, California, were arrested on suspicion of a major burglary at a business in American Canyon, where approximately $100,000 worth of tools, copper wire, and vehicles were stolen. The suspects, Daniel Lemas, 53, and Dennis Teylig, 49, allegedly broke into the business on Monday and took various items including two vehicles.

Following the burglary report, American Canyon police issued an alert with details of the stolen vehicles. Shortly after, Alameda County Sheriff's deputies located one of the stolen vehicles with Lemas behind the wheel. Police found incriminating evidence on his phone: selfies he took during the burglary, which became key evidence leading to his arrest. Lemas was charged with multiple felony counts related to burglary and theft and was taken to Napa County jail.

The next day, Hayward police arrested Teylig after recovering the second stolen vehicle. A search of his home, conducted under a warrant, uncovered some of the stolen property. Teylig was charged with conspiracy to commit a crime and remains in custody, while Lemas was released on a $25,000 bail. Authorities continue investigating and working to recover the remaining stolen items.
