Jurgen Klopp Agrees to Become Germany National Football Team Coach Until 2030 World Cup
Jurgen Klopp, the former Liverpool and Borussia Dortmund manager, is set to be appointed as the head coach of the Germany national football team. Klopp has reportedly reached an agreement with the German Football Association and is expected to sign a contract extending through the 2030 World Cup. The association plans to grant him broad authority, not only over coaching duties but also in shaping the professional structure and future direction of German football.
Klopp will replace Julian Nagelsmann, who was dismissed following Germany's early exit from the 2026 World Cup in the United States, where the team was eliminated in the round of 32 after a penalty shootout loss to Paraguay. Nagelsmann had previously led Germany to the quarterfinals of the European Championship held on home soil two years earlier.
Klopp, widely regarded as one of the world's top football managers, has spent the last 18 years coaching only two clubs. He led Borussia Dortmund to two Bundesliga titles, including a double in 2012, and a Champions League final appearance in 2013. At Liverpool, he ended a 30-year league title drought by winning the Premier League in 2020 and secured the Champions League trophy the previous season. He is expected to leave his advisory role at the Red Bull group and will reportedly earn over 7 million euros annually in his new position.
