Agudat Yisrael Leader Yitzhak Goldknopf Secures Another Knesset Term by Gur Rebbe's Decision

Yitzhak Goldknopf will continue serving as the representative of the Gur Hasidic dynasty in the Israeli Knesset for another term, following a recent decision by the Gur Rebbe. Goldknopf currently leads the United Torah Judaism list and served as Minister of Housing and Construction for about two and a half years until he resigned from the coalition under the directive of senior rabbinic authorities. The Gur Hasidic newspaper Hamoid published the Rebbe's decision, emphasizing Goldknopf's ongoing mission amid what they describe as a harsh campaign against Torah scholars.

In a statement after the announcement, Goldknopf reflected on the past Knesset term as particularly challenging for the ultra-Orthodox community, despite the presence of a fully right-wing government. He noted the severe persecution of Torah learners and affirmed his compliance with the instructions of the leading rabbis, including his immediate resignation from government roles when instructed. Goldknopf expressed sorrow over the current situation and stressed the need to learn from recent events. He pledged to work collaboratively with all United Torah Judaism representatives to restore honor to the community and protect its sacred values.
