Gur Hasidic Movement Confirms Yitzhak Goldknopf Will Continue as Knesset Representative

The official publication of the Gur Hasidic movement, Agudat Yisrael's bulletin, announced on Monday that Member of Knesset Yitzhak Goldknopf will continue serving in the upcoming Knesset term. Goldknopf expressed gratitude for the trust placed in him and emphasized his commitment to representing the ultra-Orthodox community and Torah scholars. He described the past term as particularly challenging for the Haredi public, citing harsh persecution of Torah learners despite a right-wing government. Goldknopf stated that he acted in full compliance with the directives of the leading rabbis, resigning immediately from the government and coalition as instructed. He called for learning lessons from recent events and pledged to work with all representatives of United Torah Judaism to uphold the sanctity of Israel and Torah values.

The announcement follows reports that Shlomo Verdiger, the American financial patron of the Gur Hasidim and close to the Gur Rebbe, recently met with the Rebbe to discuss the community's parliamentary representation. Sources familiar with the discussion said the Rebbe intends for Goldknopf to continue as the Gur representative in the next Knesset. A key reason cited for Goldknopf's continuation is his obedience and adherence to the leadership's instructions. Verdiger, currently visiting Israel, also met with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Friday amid ongoing tensions between Netanyahu and the Gur Hasidic community.
