Jurgen Klopp Set to Become Germany National Team Coach After World Cup Failure

Jurgen Klopp, the former Liverpool and Borussia Dortmund manager, is expected to be appointed soon as the head coach of the Germany national football team. Klopp has reportedly agreed on terms with the German Football Association and is set to sign a contract extending through the 2030 World Cup. The association plans to grant him broad authority, not only over coaching duties but also in shaping the professional structure and future direction of German football.

Klopp will replace Julian Nagelsmann, who was dismissed following Germany's disappointing exit in the 2026 World Cup in the United States. Germany was eliminated in the round of 32 after losing on penalties to Paraguay. Nagelsmann had previously led the team to the quarterfinals of the European Championship held in Germany two years earlier.

Klopp, regarded as one of the world's top coaches, has spent the last 18 years managing only two clubs. He won two Bundesliga titles with Borussia Dortmund, including a double in 2012, and reached the Champions League final in 2013. At Liverpool, he ended a 30-year league title drought by winning the Premier League in 2020 and secured the Champions League trophy the previous season. Klopp is expected to leave his advisory role at Red Bull and will reportedly earn over 7 million euros annually in his new position.
