Blaming the Prime Minister, Then Taking Credit for Victory: How the Left Operates

The left accuses the right of “election theft” to conceal its own plot, to claim as its own the historic victories in Gaza, Lebanon, and against Iran. This is an outright attempt to steal achievements won through blood, sweat, and toil, and to receive for free a security bonanza that the opposition itself tried to prevent. In these elections, the left and the media are the ones lurking like thieves in the night to seize the spoils that the right obtained through hard work.
The left is the one going to “steal” the election. That is how it works: a few months before elections, the left begins to sing about election theft by the right, but in these elections it is דווקא the Kaplan protesters and the media who will lurk like thieves in the night to steal the election, and reap the spoils the right obtained through blood, sweat and tears despite opposition on the other side.

It is not only Ehud Olmert who said that Netanyahu and his allies would “try to steal the election.” Opposition leaders such as Yair Lapid and Yair Golan, and of course well-known commentators, use the term as well. Beyond the atmosphere of criminality and the criminalization they try to attach to everything the right and its supporters touch, this is an effective call to action to get the left and Kaplan out of the house.
But the truth is the picture is reversed. The left will try to steal the election here, or more precisely, to steal the achievements of the right during the years of war. They will try to steal the enormous achievement in Gaza and receive the situation in the Strip, where the IDF controls nearly 70% after dismantling and destroying most of it. They will try to get, for free, a battered, hated, and wounded Hezbollah, at a level it has never been in before. And above all, they will take the spoils of the two historic confrontations with Iran, when the existential threat is almost nonexistent, and by the time of the elections it may also be resolved.
“Iran is weaker than ever and Israel is stronger than ever” is not just a catchy line, it is a security bonanza that the right fought, quite literally, to achieve, and the left will be happy to steal and take credit for.

The left will try to steal the election, in the election it least deserves to win. Assuming Eisenkot leads the bloc, this is a politician who pushed for surrender to Hamas a few months after October 7, when Sinwar was still alive and Hamas was strong and intoxicated with success, and would have remained very close to the Gaza border communities. So let him steal what we achieved?
