Marine Le Pen Launches 2027 Presidential Bid with Young Protégé Jordan Bardella

Marine Le Pen has begun her fourth presidential campaign in France, this time alongside her young protégé Jordan Bardella. Bardella has remained by her side since the Paris Court of Appeals confirmed her conviction for embezzlement of European Parliament funds, sentencing her to one year of house arrest with an electronic bracelet. However, the court reduced the ban preventing her from running in elections, allowing her to compete in the 2027 presidential race. Le Pen's appeal to the French Supreme Court has currently suspended the electronic bracelet sentence, enabling her to campaign freely.

Le Pen and Bardella have been presenting themselves as a joint ticket for months, with Le Pen running for president and Bardella positioned as a potential prime minister. This approach, common in American politics but unusual in France where the presidency holds significant executive power, is seen by some analysts as either a brilliant strategy or a sign of desperation.

Despite the legal cloud hanging over her campaign, Le Pen is pushing forward with this new political partnership, aiming to secure the Élysée Palace in the upcoming election.
