Xiaomi Unveils Redmi Note 17 Series With Massive Batteries and 200MP Cameras
Xiaomi announced the upcoming launch of its Redmi Note 17 series, skipping the Note 16 name, with a scheduled unveiling in China on July 14 at 14:00 Israel time. The new lineup includes the base model, Pro, and Pro Max variants, aiming to push the boundaries of mid-range smartphones by offering flagship-level features at accessible prices.
The standout upgrade is the battery capacity: the Redmi Note 17 Pro will feature a 9,000mAh battery, while the Pro Max could offer an unprecedented 10,100mAh battery. Both models will support 67W fast wired charging. Xiaomi also introduced a unique policy guaranteeing free battery replacement if capacity falls below 80% within four years of purchase.
Durability is a key focus, with the Pro model equipped with Gorilla Glass Victus 2 and an IP69K rating, ensuring full dust protection and resistance to high-pressure, high-temperature water jets. Xiaomi demonstrated the device’s resistance to drops and impacts, targeting users in demanding environments.
The devices will sport a 6.83-inch flat 1.5K LTPS OLED screen with a peak brightness of 3,500 nits, promising excellent visibility even in direct sunlight. Camera upgrades include a 200MP main sensor on the Pro models, while the base model will have a 50MP sensor.
Performance improvements come from new processors: the base model will use the Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 chip, the Pro model the Snapdragon 6 Gen 5, and some regions may see a MediaTek Dimensity 7500 variant. The series will run on HyperOS 3.1 based on Android 16 and include stereo speakers by default.
Following the China launch, a global release including Israel is expected in the coming months, with some models potentially rebranded under Xiaomi’s Poco brand, continuing the company’s strategy to cater to diverse markets.
