Israeli Police Face Backlash After Video Shows Officer Riding Scooter Without Helmet
A video showing two policewomen from the Kfar Shalem station in Tel Aviv has sparked widespread criticism on social media. In the footage, one officer is seen riding an electric scooter without wearing a helmet, while the other drives a car and films her colleague using a mobile phone. During the recording, the filming officer comments, “Look, a policewoman without a helmet.”
The video was shared by independent journalist Daniel Amram and quickly drew angry reactions from online users. Many criticized the apparent double standard between the officers’ behavior and the strict enforcement by Israeli police against electric scooter and bicycle riders who violate helmet laws.
One commenter noted the hypocrisy, saying, “This policewoman gave me a ticket for riding a scooter without a helmet, and today she exposes herself like this.”
The Israel Police responded by stating that the video does not align with the organization’s values or the expected conduct of its officers. They confirmed that upon receiving the footage, the matter was forwarded to the relevant authorities and will be addressed through disciplinary measures.
