Fitness YouTuber Connor Murphy Found Dead in Thai Lake Amid Apartment Vandalism Investigation

Connor Michael Murphy, a 32-year-old American fitness YouTuber, was found dead on July 8, 2026, in a lake near a luxury rental home in Bang Phli district, Samut Prakan, Thailand. Divers located his body about 20 meters from shore after a 30-minute search. Initial police reports indicated no signs of violence, and his body was sent for autopsy and toxicology tests to determine if drugs or other substances contributed to his death, which is currently classified as drowning.

Witnesses reported Murphy exhibited unstable behavior before entering the water, swimming until appearing exhausted, then disappearing beneath the surface. Police later discovered his rented luxury apartment severely vandalized with black and yellow paint splattered on furniture, decorations, and electronics. The property, valued at nearly 2 million shekels, was rented by Murphy and his 22-year-old girlfriend, Bee, for approximately 35,000 baht (around 3,000 shekels) per month, where they had lived for about three months. Bee stated the damage likely occurred overnight while she was asleep and denied seeing Murphy use drugs during their time together.

Security footage and witness accounts described Murphy’s erratic conduct shortly before the incident, including attempts to pay a driver, approaching a neighbor’s car for a ride, and displaying distressed behavior on the sidewalk. Police found two unused syringes and unidentified white pills in his bag. Murphy had publicly discussed mental health struggles in his YouTube videos, though he claimed some of his erratic acts were staged. He was in Thailand on a tourist visa, working remotely selling fitness supplements.

Murphy was known for his bodybuilding, fitness, and social experiment videos, with over 2.3 million subscribers on his main YouTube channel and significant social media following. His death prompted immediate reactions from fitness communities and influencers, many expressing shock and sadness while referencing his documented personal challenges and recent unstable online behavior. Previously, in 2024, Murphy was involved in a reported violent incident in Thailand involving his girlfriend, which police investigated.
