American Fitness YouTuber Connor Murphy Found Dead in Thai Lake Amid Apartment Vandalism

Connor Michael Murphy, a 32-year-old American fitness YouTuber, was found dead on July 8, 2026, in a lake near a luxury rental home in Bang Phli district, Samut Prakan, Thailand. Divers located his body about 20 meters from shore after a 30-minute search. Initial police reports found no signs of violence, and his body was sent for autopsy and toxicology tests to determine if drugs or other substances contributed to his drowning.

Witnesses reported Murphy behaved erratically before running into the lake, swimming until he appeared exhausted, and then disappearing underwater. Police later discovered his rented luxury apartment, valued at nearly 2 million shekels, severely vandalized with black and yellow paint splattered on furniture and appliances. Murphy and his 22-year-old girlfriend, known only as Bee, had rented the property for about three months at 35,000 baht per month. Bee stated the damage likely occurred overnight while she was asleep and denied seeing Murphy use drugs during their stay.

Security footage and witness statements described Murphy’s unstable behavior prior to the incident, including attempts to pay a driver and asking for a ride from a local resident, followed by agitation and praying gestures on the sidewalk before fleeing into the lake. Police found two unused syringes and unidentified white pills in his bag. Murphy had publicly discussed mental health struggles on his YouTube channel but also claimed some of his erratic acts were staged.

Murphy lived in Thailand on a tourist visa and worked remotely selling fitness supplements. He was known for bodybuilding, fitness, and social experiment videos, with over 2.3 million subscribers on his main YouTube channel and significant social media following. His death prompted immediate reactions from the fitness community and online influencers, many expressing shock and sadness while referencing his documented personal challenges and recent unstable behavior.

Previously, in 2024, Murphy was involved in a reported violent incident near Pattaya with his Thai girlfriend, where police responded to allegations of erratic behavior and assault with a golf club. Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding his death pending full forensic results.
