Israeli Police Arrest Drunk Driver Found Asleep Behind Wheel on Highway 4

A 50-year-old man from Nahariya was caught driving under the influence while asleep at the wheel on Highway 4. During a National Traffic Police operation, officers noticed a vehicle stopped in the middle of the road with the driver slumped over and unresponsive. When a female officer approached and knocked on the window, the driver barely reacted and appeared intoxicated. As she opened the door, the car moved uncontrollably before coming to a stop.

The driver was taken for a breathalyzer test and questioned by traffic investigators. Following the investigation, he was released under restrictive conditions including house arrest, and his vehicle was impounded. Police footage shows the officer repeatedly asking the driver to raise the handbrake and provide his license, while reporting his minimal responsiveness and the strong smell of alcohol.
