Israeli Police Arrest Drunk Driver Found Asleep Behind Wheel on Highway 4

A 50-year-old man from Nahariya was caught driving under the influence while asleep at the wheel on Highway 4. During a National Traffic Police operation, officers noticed a vehicle stopped in the middle of the road with the driver unresponsive and his head down. When a female officer approached and opened the car door, the vehicle began moving uncontrollably. The driver was found to be intoxicated and was taken for questioning by traffic examiners. After the investigation, he was released under restrictive conditions including house arrest, and his vehicle was impounded.

Footage from the police officer's body camera shows her knocking on the car window and calling out to the driver, who barely responds. She reports over the radio that the man is barely reacting and smells of alcohol. The incident occurred while the officer was driving from the Nahariya junction southward on Highway 4. The driver was ultimately detained for drunk driving and public safety concerns.
