Israeli Authorities Foil Cigarette Smuggling Attempt Into Gaza Hidden in Pineapples
Israeli officials intercepted an attempt to smuggle thousands of cigarettes into the Gaza Strip concealed within hundreds of pineapples. The operation was uncovered at the Kerem Shalom crossing, where a truck carrying the shipment was inspected. The shipment had been purchased by an Israeli company authorized to deliver humanitarian aid under the private sector mechanism. Following the discovery, the Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories ordered an immediate suspension of the company's approval to bring aid into Gaza. The truck was confiscated and handed over to customs and other relevant authorities for further investigation and handling.
