French Forward Guerschon Yabusele Signs Three-Year Deal with Panathinaikos
French forward Guerschon Yabusele is leaving the NBA once again to return to Europe, signing a three-year contract with Greek club Panathinaikos. According to HoopsHype, the 29-year-old is expected to become one of the highest-paid players in European basketball, with an estimated salary of around 5 million euros per season. This marks Yabusele's second departure from the NBA; he was originally drafted 16th overall by the Boston Celtics in 2016, played two seasons there, then left for Europe in 2019 before returning to the NBA.
Last summer, Yabusele signed a two-year, $11.2 million contract with the New York Knicks but struggled to find a significant role, averaging 2.7 points over 41 games. He later waived his player option for the 2026/27 season to facilitate a trade to the Chicago Bulls, where he improved his performance, averaging 10 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 1.7 assists in 26 games, shooting 38.3% from three-point range.
Panathinaikos is assembling an ambitious roster for the upcoming season, having also signed Isaac Bonga this summer. Yabusele's salary will place him just behind Vasilije Micić (5.6 million euros) and Kendrick Nunn (5.3 million euros), and ahead of EuroLeague MVP Sasha Vezenkov (4.1 million euros). However, these figures have not yet been officially confirmed.
