Gershon Yabusele Returns to EuroLeague with Panathinaikos After NBA Stint
Gershon Yabusele is returning to the EuroLeague after two seasons in the NBA, where he played for three different teams. According to NBA reporter Michael Scotto, Yabusele has signed a three-year contract with Panathinaikos, making him one of the highest-paid players in European basketball. Although the exact salary was not disclosed, the high demand for his skills suggests a substantial contract.
Yabusele previously had ties to several European clubs, including a brief connection to Hapoel Tel Aviv at the end of last season. His recent NBA tenure included stints with the Philadelphia 76ers, New York Knicks, and Chicago Bulls, where he averaged 8.3 points per game over 67 games last season. In his last EuroLeague season (2023/24), he averaged 10 points and 5 rebounds per game.
Panathinaikos has also recently signed Isaac Bonga, activating his release clause from Partizan Belgrade for 700,000 euros. The club underwent coaching changes as well, replacing Ergin Ataman with Željko Obradović. Yabusele’s return is seen as a significant move for Panathinaikos as they strengthen their roster for upcoming EuroLeague competitions.
