Gershon Yabusele Returns to EuroLeague with Panathinaikos After NBA Stint
Gershon Yabusele, the towering center, is making a return to the EuroLeague after two seasons in the NBA. Following a brief journey through the NBA where he played for three different teams, Yabusele has signed a three-year contract with Panathinaikos. According to NBA reporter Michael Scotto, the deal will make Yabusele one of the top three highest-paid players in Europe, although the exact salary has not been disclosed.
Yabusele's recent NBA career included stints with the Philadelphia 76ers, New York Knicks, and Chicago Bulls, where he averaged 8.3 points per game over 67 games last season. In his last EuroLeague season (2023/24), he averaged 10 points and 5 rebounds per game.
Panathinaikos has been active in the transfer market, recently signing Isaac Bonga after activating his release clause from Partizan Belgrade for 700,000 euros. The club also underwent a coaching change, replacing Argyris Pedoulakis with Željko Obradović. Yabusele was previously linked to several European teams and even Hapoel Tel Aviv at the end of last season, but ultimately chose to return to the EuroLeague with Panathinaikos.
