Israeli Border Police Neutralize Knife-Wielding Attacker at Rachel Crossing Near Bethlehem
During the night of Wednesday, a Palestinian assailant attempted to infiltrate Israel through the Rachel Crossing near Bethlehem. After failing to cross, he threw stones at Israeli security forces stationed there. Border Police troops deployed to the scene identified the suspect, who then drew a knife and threatened them. Following protocol, the officers fired at the lower body of the attacker, neutralizing and arresting him for further investigation.
Earlier in June, a similar stabbing attempt was thwarted outside the Western Galilee police station. Around 5:30 a.m., a man armed with a knife approached the station's entrance and tried to stab a Border Police officer guarding the area. The attacker was arrested without any injuries reported. He had driven to the checkpoint, exited his vehicle, and ran toward the guard post with the knife in hand, intending to attack.
These incidents highlight ongoing security challenges faced by Israeli forces at key checkpoints and police stations, emphasizing the vigilance and rapid response of Border Police units in preventing attacks and maintaining public safety.
