Shin Bet Chief Zini Affirms Loyalty to Elected Leadership
Shin Bet chief David Zini revealed that when Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu asked him if he was willing to serve as head of the Shin Bet, he initially felt he should have declined but ultimately accepted. Zini explained that he immediately told Netanyahu there were others in the agency more qualified than himself. However, he agreed to take the position because he believed strongly in his ability to remain loyal to the elected leadership, regardless of their political views or future changes in government. "I am committed to the elected leadership, no matter their opinion or who comes next," Zini stated.
