Israeli Couple Charged With Running Prostitution Ring Exploiting Vulnerable Women in Krayot
The Haifa District Prosecutor's Office filed charges on Tuesday against Rotem Garon, 38, from Kiryat Motzkin, and Sharon Marciano, 43, from Haifa, for operating a prostitution network in the Krayot area for three years. The indictment alleges the pair exploited women facing economic and psychological distress by running multiple brothels in apartments, advertising services online, and coordinating daily client meetings.
According to the indictment, Garon and Marciano charged clients between 350 and 2,000 shekels, while the women received only about 100 shekels per client. One highlighted case involved a young woman living with Garon, who was persuaded to engage in prostitution under duress and forced to serve 10 to 15 clients daily, hand over earnings, and report her activities. When she attempted to quit, the defendants threatened harm and demanded 30,000 shekels.
The indictment further states that the defendants recruited additional women in vulnerable situations, including a homeless young woman and another struggling with debt and drug addiction. They pressured these women through threats, fines, and coercion. Beyond human trafficking and pimping charges, Garon and Marciano face accusations of tax offenses and money laundering, having earned at least 1.8 million shekels from the operation without reporting income and attempting to conceal the funds.
The charges include aggravated human trafficking, pimping, running a brothel, advertising prostitution services, extortion, threats, obstruction of justice, tax offenses, and money laundering. The case is now before the Haifa District Court, where the prosecution seeks to hold the defendants accountable for their exploitation and financial crimes.
