Eurovision Composer Ralph Siegel Hospitalized in Critical Condition with Pneumonia Complications

Ralph Siegel, one of the most prolific composers in Eurovision history, is currently sedated and on a ventilator following a serious deterioration in his health due to pneumonia complications. The 80-year-old composer was admitted to a hospital in Munich last week and placed in a medically induced coma. His daughter, Julia Siegel, confirmed his condition, stating that although he is in a coma, he is breathing on his own and the family remains optimistic while requesting privacy and avoidance of speculation.

Siegel has an extensive legacy in the Eurovision Song Contest, having written 24 songs performed by representatives from various countries including Luxembourg, Germany, Switzerland, Montenegro, and San Marino. His involvement in the contest dates back to 1974, with his most recent entry in 2017. Notably, one of his songs, "Ein bißchen Frieden" performed by German singer Nicole, won the contest in 1982. Siegel has visited Israel multiple times and has expressed having many friends there.
