Netanya Man Charged with Multiple Rapes and Assaults Against Partner

The Central District Prosecutor's Office filed serious charges against Eli Peretz, a 52-year-old resident of Netanya, accusing him of multiple counts of rape, assault, and threats against his partner. The indictment, submitted on Monday by attorney Tali Keret to the Central District Court, details a prolonged pattern of obsessive jealousy and violent behavior by Peretz toward his partner.

According to the indictment, Peretz stalked his partner, sending her dozens of messages demanding to know her whereabouts and accusing her of infidelity. He physically assaulted her on several occasions, including an incident inside a car where he knocked a glass from her hands. Despite her resistance and pleas, he repeatedly raped her. In one particularly brutal episode, when she tried to escape to the bathroom, Peretz broke the door lock with a knife, pinned her to the wall, and raped her.

After the partner sought to end the relationship, Peretz returned early from the World Cup and went directly from the airport to her family home searching for her. Due to the severity and obsessive nature of his actions, which forced the victim to hide from him, the prosecution is requesting that Peretz be held in custody until the conclusion of the legal proceedings. The victim's identity is under a gag order, but the accused's name has been published.
