MS Ashdod Signs Veteran Midfielder Dor Micha in Major Move
MS Ashdod secured a significant signing by signing veteran midfielder Dor Micha to a two-year contract on Sunday. This move signals the club's strong intentions ahead of the upcoming season, regardless of whether they remain in the Israeli Premier League or face relegation due to the ongoing Iruni Tiberias doping case. Micha, 34, had been highly sought after by several teams including newly promoted Hapoel Ramat Gan, Hapoel Haifa, and a Cypriot club, but ultimately chose Ashdod after weeks of negotiations. He will join forces in midfield with his close friend Roee Gordana.
Micha recently ended his tenure at Beitar Jerusalem, where he made 105 appearances, scored six goals, and provided 20 assists. He was part of the squad that won the Toto Cup and experienced some of the club's most memorable moments in recent years. Upon his departure, Micha expressed gratitude to Beitar Jerusalem, saying, "Thank you for the privilege of being part of this great club. From the first moment, I felt the power, passion, and unique madness of Beitar. I leave with great pride, immense love, and memories that will always stay with me."
The signing was first reported by Walla Sport and is seen as a clear statement of Ashdod's ambitions despite their uncertain league status. Micha's experience and leadership are expected to be key assets for the club moving forward.
