Likud and Yashar Parties Tie at 23 Seats Each in New Israeli Election Poll
A new poll published by Kan News reveals a historic tie between the Likud party, led by Benjamin Netanyahu, and the Yashar party, headed by Gadi Eisenkot, each securing 23 Knesset seats. This is the first time since the election campaign began that these two parties are neck and neck. The poll also shows Eisenkot widening his lead over Naftali Bennett, whose party holds 16 seats, and Eisenkot leads Netanyahu in suitability for prime minister.
Compared to the previous poll, Likud lost one seat while Yashar gained one, resulting in their equal standing. Other parties include United Torah Judaism and Shas, each with 8 seats, Hadash-Ta'al with 6, Religious Zionism with 5, and Ra'am with 4. The current coalition bloc holds 53 seats, while the anti-Netanyahu bloc has 67.
The poll further explores a hypothetical joint party led by Yuli Edelstein, Ayelet Shaked, and Gilad Erdan, which could win 6 seats but would draw votes away from Likud, Yashar, Bennett's party, and Religious Zionism. This scenario would reduce Netanyahu's bloc to 50 seats.
Regarding prime minister preference, Eisenkot leads Netanyahu by 41% to 40%. In a direct contest between Netanyahu and Bennett, Netanyahu leads 41% to 33%. Among coalition voters, 36% favor Ofer Winter as leader of a new right-wing party, followed by Gilad Erdan at 13%, Ayelet Shaked at 7%, and Yuli Edelstein at 6%.
