Beloved Teacher Rabbi Mordechai David Shtiglitz Dies at 46 in Afula
The Afula Illit community in the Givat HaMoreh neighborhood mourns the passing of Rabbi Mordechai David Shtiglitz, who died at the age of 46 on a holy Sabbath. Rabbi Shtiglitz suffered a stroke three weeks prior and his condition worsened after being discharged from Rambam Hospital in Haifa. Despite many prayers for his recovery, he passed away, leaving behind nine orphans, only one of whom was married.
Born in Kfar Gideon, Rabbi Shtiglitz studied at the "Knesset Hezekiah" yeshiva in Rekhasim during his youth. Upon reaching adulthood, he married and settled with his wife in Afula Illit. He was a cherished first-grade teacher and educator at the "Derech Emet" Talmud Torah in Afula, beloved by all his students.
His funeral took place at midnight on Motzei Shabbat Parshat Pinchas, beginning from his home in Afula and proceeding to Kfar Gideon. The procession passed by the study hall of Rabbi Avraham Lifshitz, the community leader, before Rabbi Shtiglitz was laid to rest in the local cemetery. The community expressed deep sorrow over the loss of this special figure. "May his soul be bound in the bond of life," they said.
