Dnipro Jewish Community Donates New Torah Scroll to Vinnytsia Chabad Community

A significant event took place in the Jewish community of Dnipro, Ukraine, where a new Torah scroll was completed and donated to the Chabad community in Vinnytsia. The dedication ceremony was held at the Jewish Center in Dnipro under the guidance of Rabbi Moshe Leib Bar. Attendees included many members of the Dnipro community, a delegation from Vinnytsia led by Chief Rabbi Shaul Horowitz, and students from the Tomchei Temimim Yeshiva in Ukraine, headed by Rabbi Eliyahu Heifer.

The Torah scroll was written by the National Center for Scribes, managed by Rabbi Reuven Margolin. Speeches were delivered by Rabbi Shmuel Kamintzky, Chief Rabbi of Dnipro and the surrounding region, Rabbi Shaul Horowitz of Vinnytsia, and community leader Yitzhak Friedman. They emphasized the event’s great importance for the Jewish community of Vinnytsia and its role in strengthening Jewish unity and fulfilling the spiritual mission of tikkun olam (repairing the world).

Many members of the Dnipro Jewish community were honored with the opportunity to write the final letters of the Torah scroll. After completion, the scroll was paraded through the historic Jewish quarter of Dnipro to the main entrance of the central synagogue, where celebratory dancing took place.

Rabbi Shaul Horowitz expressed deep gratitude to the unique Jewish community of Dnipro and Rabbi Shmuel Kamintzky for their efforts in developing and strengthening Jewish life locally and beyond, especially during challenging times. He stated that the Torah scroll would become a sacred relic for the Vinnytsia community and a symbol of the unbreakable bond between the Jewish communities of Vinnytsia and Dnipro.
