Shufersal Customer Ejected Over 'Inappropriate Attire' After Workout Sparks Apology
Daniel Sinai, a regular at the Shufersal branch near her father's home in Givat Olga, Hadera, was shocked when a security guard confronted her for wearing a sports outfit while shopping. After finishing a workout, she entered the store to buy milk but was told by the 70-year-old guard that she could not enter without a shirt and had to leave. The guard claimed it was store policy, citing that the cashier was religious and felt offended by her attire.
In an interview with Channel 12, Sinai described feeling humiliated and degraded by the incident, which unfolded publicly in front of other customers. She questioned the guard's authority to comment on women's clothing and whether this was an official Shufersal policy, noting no such guidelines were posted at the store entrance. Sinai expressed her expectation for a public apology and for all customers to feel comfortable in public spaces.
Shufersal responded with an apology to Sinai, stating the incident was due to a misjudgment by the employee, who has been summoned for a review. The chain emphasized it has no official dress code for customers and will clarify guidelines across all branches following the event.
