Violent Incident at Haredi 'Yesh Chesed' Store Sparks Panic Among Customers

A confrontation at the 'Yesh Chesed' supermarket branch in the Haredi neighborhood of Knafey Nesharim escalated into a violent episode on June 10, 2024. The store's head cashier reprimanded several Arab employees for idling and smoking instead of working, which triggered an aggressive outburst from one employee. He verbally abused the cashier, threatened her, and attempted physical violence. His colleagues struggled to intervene, but tensions remained high.

Police were called and arrested the aggressive employee, who was handcuffed at the scene. Following the arrest, the other Arab employees abruptly abandoned their workstations, discarded their work IDs, shouted insults at the cashier, and cursed the workplace before leaving en masse. The chaos caused severe distress among Jewish female customers, who, fearing a terror attack, lay down on the floor and hid between shelves in panic.

Eyewitnesses described the scene as terrifying, noting that the women genuinely believed they were in mortal danger. The store management condemned the incident, stating it was handled immediately by security personnel and that a police complaint was filed. The involved employees were summoned for disciplinary hearings.
