Antisemitic Abuse Against Haredi Woman in London Waitrose Sparks Police Probe

A Haredi woman was subjected to antisemitic abuse at a Waitrose supermarket in Harrow, London, last Monday. While standing in line, an antisemitic customer loudly insulted her, shouting phrases like "kill Zionist Jews" and "damn the Jews," according to an eyewitness who intervened. The witness reported the incident to two staff members, including the store manager, and requested they call the police, but they refused, citing that the perpetrator had left the store.

The abusive man continued his outburst before paying and leaving. The eyewitness later reported the incident to the police and filed a complaint with Waitrose. The supermarket chain apologized for the initial delay in reporting and said it has a zero-tolerance policy toward antisemitism. Waitrose confirmed it is cooperating with the police investigation and preserving security footage.

The Metropolitan Police stated they received an online report on June 22 about a religious hate crime at the Harrow store involving antisemitic remarks directed at a woman.
