Israeli Border Police Foil Fake Arms Deal, Arrest Two Suspects in West Bank
Israeli Border Police commandos in Jerusalem, together with detectives from the Judea and Samaria District and forces from the Ephraim Brigade and West Bank Border Police, thwarted a staged arms deal on Wednesday in the village of Nabi Elias within the Ephraim Brigade area. The operation, based on intelligence from the Judea and Samaria District detectives, involved a covert Border Police unit setting up a fake weapons transaction with two suspects.
During the staged exchange, the suspects handed over two Carlo submachine guns before the forces raided the site. One suspect was arrested on the spot, while the second attempted to flee by ramming a police vehicle with his car. Due to the threat posed, officers fired at the vehicle’s tires, stopping the suspect who was then apprehended. Both suspects and the seized weapons were transferred to the Judea and Samaria District for further investigation.
The police emphasized their ongoing commitment, alongside the IDF and other security agencies, to prevent illegal arms trafficking and arrest those involved.
