Israeli Police Shoot Dead Armed Attacker in Lod Who Had Prior Weapons Convictions

An armed assailant who attempted a stabbing attack against Israeli Border Police officers in Lod was shot and killed by police on Wednesday. The attacker, an Arab resident of Lod, was previously known to law enforcement and had been convicted of multiple offenses, including illegal possession of weapons such as M16 and M4 rifles, as well as drug-related charges. He had served a six-month prison sentence and faced additional financial penalties for these crimes.

During the incident, police officers identified the suspect holding a knife and ordered him to stop for questioning. The suspect refused, fled, and attempted to stab one of the Border Police officers during the ensuing chase. The officer responded with gunfire, neutralizing the attacker on the spot. Police quickly secured the scene, collected evidence, and conducted searches in the area.
