Thousands Walk in Heat to Honor Rabbi Amos Guetta in Netanya Funeral
The funeral procession of the revered Kabbalist Rabbi Amos Guetta zt"l took place in Netanya, beginning at Laniado Hospital in the Sanz neighborhood. His body was carried from the hospital to his study hall on Bar Yohai Street, where mourners recited Kaddish, before continuing to the veterans' cemetery for burial.
In an unusual display, thousands of followers walked on foot along Highway 2 in intense heat, led by an ambulance from Magen David Adom and Hatzalah Sharon carrying the rabbi's coffin. Many of Rabbi Guetta's students traveled on motorcycles and walked for hours, reciting Psalms along the route. Highway 2 and adjacent roads near central Netanya were closed to traffic during the procession.
At the cemetery, thousands awaited the arrival of the coffin, with eulogies from Netanya's rabbis beginning before the body reached the site. The Sanz Rebbe personally accompanied the coffin from the hospital for part of the journey. According to reports, Rabbi Guetta's disciples and followers purchased 30 plots at the veterans' cemetery to erect a large tent over his gravesite as a lasting tribute.
