Thousands Expected to Attend Rabbi Amos Guetta's Funeral in Netanya
The funeral procession for Rabbi Amos Guetta, who was fatally stabbed in the yeshiva where he taught, is scheduled for today at 1:30 PM at the Veterans' Neighborhood Cemetery in Netanya. Authorities anticipate thousands of mourners will attend the ceremony. The Israel Police have completed special preparations to secure the event and manage the expected heavy traffic, with officers deployed along the funeral route and around the cemetery to maintain public order and direct traffic. Several streets, including Degania Street, Rabbi Neria Street, and the cemetery parking area, will be closed during the procession, and the police have urged the public to follow instructions and avoid unnecessary travel to the area.
The Central District Police Chief, Amir Cohen, expressed shock over the murder and extended condolences to Rabbi Guetta's family and students. The investigation into the stabbing has been assigned to the Crime Fighting Unit (YALP) Sharon after the suspect, a man in his twenties from Netanya, was apprehended following a police manhunt. In addition to the police, the Israel Fire and Rescue Services have also reinforced their presence along the funeral route and at the cemetery to provide immediate response capabilities and ensure the safety of attendees.
