Additional Indictment Filed Against Gymnastics Coach Yevgeny Yordanov for Alleged Sexual Misconduct
An additional indictment is set to be filed by Sunday against gymnastics coach Yevgeny Yordanov, who is suspected of committing indecent acts against two underage gymnasts. Despite the new charges, Magistrate Court Judge Ravit Peleg Bar Dayan ruled that there is no longer justification to keep Yordanov in custody. The judge noted that the prosecutor's statement indicated no further investigative actions remain. She also emphasized that the allegations pertain to incidents from 2018 and that no ongoing investigations risk being compromised. Consequently, the court ordered Yordanov's transfer to house arrest at the Abu Kabir detention facility as an alternative to continued detention.
