All Deputy Legal Advisers Attend Rare Knesset Hearing on Splitting Attorney General Role
On June 30, 2026, all six deputy legal advisers to the Attorney General, led by Gali Baharav-Miara, attended a rare session of the Knesset Constitution Committee chaired by MK Rotman. The hearing focused on the proposed legislation to split the role of the Attorney General. During the discussion, MK Rotman prevented some deputies from speaking and removed Deputy for Administrative Affairs Gil Limon from the session. At one point, Rotman accused Deputy for Constitutional Affairs Avital Sompolinsky of making a "blatant lie." The unusual presence of all deputies highlighted the significance and controversy surrounding the bill to divide the Attorney General's responsibilities.
