Knesset Approves Splitting Legal Adviser and Attorney General Bill for Separate Legislative Progress

The Knesset plenary approved on Monday the Constitution, Law and Justice Committee's decision to split the proposed bill concerning the appointment, tenure, roles, and powers of the Legal Adviser to the Government and the Attorney General. The bill, part of the coalition's legislative efforts regarding the Legal Adviser institution, was passed with 59 votes in favor and 45 against. The original bill was submitted by MKs Hanoch Milwitsky, Yitzhak Kroizer, and other members of Knesset. Splitting the bill allows different sections to advance independently through the legislative process. Following the plenary decision, the Constitution Committee will continue to deliberate each part separately as the bill moves forward in the Knesset.
