Iconic Peter Pan Musical Returns to Israeli Stages After 35 Years
The beloved Peter Pan musical, a cultural phenomenon since its original 1988 Israeli debut, is set to return to the stage this summer at the Tel Aviv Performing Arts Center. The new production will star Li Biran as Peter Pan, Mashi Kleynshtein as Wendy, and Shashon Gabay reprising his original role as Captain Hook, closing a meaningful circle for the actor. Hanoch Rozen, who played Peter Pan in the original and directed the new version, said this revival aims to introduce a new generation to the classic story and songs.
The 1988 production, which also featured Hani Nahmias and Shashon Gabay, became one of Israel's most successful musicals, spawning a video tape, song album, and book that shaped an entire generation of children. Iconic songs like "The Night Must Come," "We Are Flying," and "Blood Pact" remain cult favorites.
The 2026 production promises a grand and unforgettable experience, blending nostalgia with innovation. It will feature original songs, massive sets, and cutting-edge flying technology imported from abroad, elevating the magic of Neverland to international standards. This large-scale show is designed to captivate both parents and children, connecting the past with the present in a spectacular theatrical event.
