Rafael Signs €2 Billion Deal to Supply Romania with Spyder Air Defense Systems

Israeli defense company Rafael has signed a framework agreement with Romania's Ministry of Defense valued at approximately €2 billion. The deal involves supplying Romania with multiple Spyder air defense systems, designed to counter short- and medium-range threats. Although Rafael did not disclose the exact number of batteries to be delivered, the contract includes launchers, interceptor missiles, radar systems, and comprehensive training and logistical support for Romanian forces operating the systems. Rafael expects to begin delivering the new air defense systems to the Romanian military within three years.
