Netanyahu Plans to Oppose Accelerated Trial Schedule at Jerusalem District Court

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is expected to appear at the Jerusalem District Court tomorrow to argue against speeding up his trial proceedings. He aims to convince the panel of judges not to increase the pace of hearings to five days a week. Ahead of his arrival, the Shin Bet security service is finalizing the necessary security arrangements at the court.

Netanyahu's appearance comes amid tensions regarding his security arrangements. Previously, he strongly opposed testifying in a fortified courtroom in Tel Aviv due to personal security concerns. This stance prompted Shin Bet chief David Zini to issue a professional opinion on the matter, as revealed by Channel 13 news. Notably, the upcoming hearing will take place at the Jerusalem District Court, rather than the Tel Aviv court where the armored testimony option was previously considered.
