Israeli Police Detain Palestinian Suspect in Ramla Gang Rape Investigation
Israeli police are actively investigating a suspected gang rape in Ramla, where a young woman was allegedly brought to a workers' apartment and sexually assaulted. Over the weekend, authorities arrested a Palestinian man in his twenties, who works in Israel with a permit, as the sole suspect so far. Police are continuing to search for additional suspects believed to be involved in the incident. The arrested man's detention has been extended until Tuesday while investigators gather more evidence and attempt to locate others implicated. Authorities also plan to request a gag order from the Magistrate's Court in Rishon Lezion to prevent publication of investigation details.
Separately, the Magistrate's Court in Kiryat recently extended the detention of a taxi driver from the Kiryat area suspected of raping a 16-year-old girl he had transported after she ordered a ride via the Gett Taxi app. The alleged incident occurred in April, and the driver, Albert Ismailov, a 33-year-old former Border Police officer from Kiryat Yam, denies the allegations. Following the accusations, the taxi company removed him from service. Judge Orit Kantor authorized the publication of his identity at the request of media outlets including Walla News.
