Maccabi Tel Aviv Plans to Move On From Defender Heitor Ahead of New Season
Maccabi Tel Aviv does not include Brazilian defender Heitor in its plans for the upcoming season. The center-back, who joined the club a year ago, is unlikely to remain with the yellow team and may not even travel with them to their training camp in Serbia. Despite being signed by the club's new sporting director Steven Vanhaeren, Heitor's underwhelming performances last season, including in playoff and cup matches, have prompted the club to seek alternatives for his position. It remains unclear whether he will be loaned or sold, though a loan with a purchase option appears most probable.
Heitor was among the players delayed in arriving to Israel due to the conflict in Iran, which complicated his integration ahead of the season restart. His future at Maccabi Tel Aviv is still uncertain. Additionally, the futures of Venezuelan midfielder Kevin Andrade and Amir Saheti are also in question. Andrade struggled to settle at the club and may be replaced. Meanwhile, Maccabi Tel Aviv’s option to purchase Saheti’s rights from Hamburg expires soon, with no deal yet as the player has not decided whether to remain in Israel.
