US Strikes Iranian Targets After Iran Attacks Commercial Ship, Iran Fires Back at Bahrain and Kuwait

The US Central Command announced overnight that it conducted strikes against targets in Iran in response to an earlier Iranian attack on a commercial vessel in the Strait of Hormuz. Explosions were reported on Sirik Island and in the port city of Bandar Abbas, along with damage to communication infrastructure on Qeshm Island. In retaliation, Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) launched attacks on Bahrain and Kuwait, triggering air raid sirens and explosions in both countries. No casualties or damage have been reported.

Former US President Donald Trump commented on the exchange via a post on Truth Social, stating that US aircraft targeted Iranian missile and drone storage sites as well as radar installations along the Persian Gulf coast. He warned that continued Iranian violations of the memorandum of understanding could force the US to take further military action, potentially ending the existence of the Islamic Republic.

The IRGC accused the US of breaching the memorandum of understanding and confirmed that five of their positions along the Persian Gulf coast were attacked. They emphasized Iran's authority to regulate traffic in the Strait of Hormuz and vowed to respond forcefully to any ships violating these arrangements. The IRGC also warned that US bases in the region would "experience hell" in the coming days. Early this morning around 6:30 AM, air raid sirens and explosions were again heard in Bahrain and Kuwait, indicating ongoing tensions.
