Senegalese Defender Ariel Mendy Signs One-Year Deal with Hapoel Haifa
Hapoel Haifa officially announced the signing of Senegalese defender Ariel Mendy on June 27, 2026. The 31-year-old joined the club on a one-year contract with an option for an additional season. This marks Mendy's third stint in Israeli football, following previous spells at Beitar Jerusalem and M.S. Ashdod.
Prior to moving to the Israeli Premier League, Mendy played in France's Ligue 2 for clubs including Lens and Grenoble. He has also earned four caps for the Senegal national team. Concurrently, Hapoel Haifa reached a mutual agreement to terminate the contract of Sana Gomez.
Club owner Yoav Katz commented on the signing, stating, "We continue to build the team together. We have brought in an experienced player with a respectable international record who will help us achieve a successful season."
