Historic Half: The Spurs' Explosive Numbers
The Western Conference champions produced a legendary first half in Game 4 in New York, en route to several records.
San Antonio exploded in the first half of Game 4 against the Knicks in New York overnight Wednesday into Thursday, taking a 76-49 lead at the break. The Spurs set the largest halftime margin, 27 points, by a road team in an NBA Finals game, not including the 2020 bubble, and also broke the Finals halftime three-pointers record, held by Cleveland in 2017, with 14. In addition, Victor Wembanyama and his teammates tied the third-highest point total in a half in Finals history. It was the highest total ever by a road team.
The visitors reached 76 points while shooting 60% from the field, 54% from three-point range and 100% from the free-throw line. Wemby had 16 points at halftime, Dylan Harper and Devin Vassell had 15 each, and De'Aaron Fox had 13.
